Barn Quilt Trail
Visit The Calloway County Quilt Trail
The Calloway County Quilt Trail combines art, history, and a pleasurable countryside drive. Quilt patterns are painted on large squares and then hung on barns, homes or businesses. The patterns often tell a story of the family or its land. Murray and Calloway County has one of the largest trails in the region, with more than 60 quilt squares.
Within the Quilt Trail, so many family stories, some tragic and others happy, give insight into the people of our community. The Butterworth Barn (pictured right), is the second version. The first version was hit by lightening and destroyed.
The Wilson Barn (Northwest Trail), has two quilts. One in memory of their daughter and the other in memory of the owner’s grandmother. Both quilts are colorful enhancements to the historic tobacco barn.
