Author and Professor Emeritus of History at the University of South Carolina Don H. Doyle will be this year's guest speaker for the Department of History's annual Sid Easley Lecture. Doyle's talk will be based on his new book entitled "The Age of Reconstruction: How Lincoln's New Birth of Freedom Remade the World." A renowned scholar of American history, Doyle will discuss how the Civil War and its aftermath affected the course of events not just in the United States during the Age of Reconstruction but in nations and cultures around the world. A book signing and reception will follow the lecture.
