Does your best friend have four legs, a wet nose, a dry tongue and sometimes drinks from the toilet? If he or she does, spend some quality time with your canine best friend at the Humane Society of Calloway County's Doggie Easter Bone Hunt on Sat., April 1st from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Murray-Calloway County Central Park Bailey Pavilion beside the dog park. You and your dog will enjoy this canine equivalent of an Easter egg hunt as the dogs sniff out treats and prizes especially for them
At 2:30 p.m., there will be an Easter Bonnet Parade for your dog to show off his or her best spring costume. We don't limit the fun to just head wear.
At 3:00 p.m., Egg Hunts will be held in separate areas for large and small dogs allowing the canines to ‘'hunt'’ doggie bones and plastic eggs with doggie cookies and other special treats and prizes. For a $5 donation per dog, dogs will receive the treats they find. Special eggs will hold gift certificates for pooches and people. If your dog touches their nose to a treat or egg during the hunt, you can pick it up and put it in their basket – that is, of course, if your dog doesn’t eat it first! The dog’s handler will receive an entry into a drawing for an Easter basket filled with gifts and goodies for your dog.
The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photographs. For a $10 donation to the Humane Society, a photographer will take a photograph of your dog(s) and family with the Easter Bunny and email it to you and you are welcome to take your own photos as well.
Humane Society volunteers will microchip your pet for $15. And, we welcome items from our Wish List as donations at the Hunt. Our current Wish List is attached.
Bring your dog if he or she enjoys being around people and other dogs and is up-to-date on vaccinations. Your dog must be on a leash no longer than six-feet in length.
If the weather on April 1st is very rainy or stormy, the event will be cancelled for 2023 and rescheduled for 2024. Please post the attached flyer if you have a location!
