Humane Society holds Doggie Easter Bone Hunt on Sat., March 30
Dogs sniff out treats and prizes at egg hunt especially for them
Spend some quality time with your four-legged best friend at the Humane Society of Calloway County’s annual Easter Bone Hunt Sat., March 30 at 2 p.m. at the Murray-Calloway County Central Park Bailey Pavilion beside the dog park. This event is the canine equivalent of an Easter egg hunt as the dogs sniff out treats and prizes
At 2:30 p.m. there will be an Easter bonnet parade for your dog to show off his or her best spring head wear or spring costume.
At 3:00 p.m. egg hunts will be held in separate areas for large and small dogs allowing the canines to ‘hunt’ doggie bones and plastic eggs with doggie cookies and other special treats and prizes. For a $5 donation per dog, dogs will receive the treats they find. If the dog touches its nose to a treat or egg during the hunt, their person can pick it up and put it in their basket. The dog’s handler will receive an entry into a drawing for an festive Easter basket with many canine goodies.
From 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photographs. For a $10 donation to the Humane Society, Shae Stiff of Shae Stiff Photography will take a photograph of your dog(s) and family with the Easter Bunny. Photos will be emailed to you and you are welcome to take your own photos with the purchase of an official photo.
Humane Society volunteers will microchip pets for $15. Kasey and Jacklyn with Jack & Buddy Pet Sitting and Canine Grooming will be on hand to trim your dog's nails for a minimum $5 donation. The Society also accepting donations from their wish list which includes Diamond Puppy and Diamond Premium Adult Dog dry dog food for foster pups and dogs, small and x-small collars, leashes, bleach, ammonia, copier paper and paper towels.
Bring your dog if he or she enjoys being around people and other dogs and is up-to-date on vaccinations. Your dog must be on a leash no longer than six-feet in length.
If the weather on March 30 is extremely rainy or stormy, the event will be cancelled for 2024 and rescheduled for 2025.
