Louisville Orchestra with Guest Chris Thile @ Lovett Auditorium

The Louisville Orchestra’s historic “In Harmony” tour will bring orchestra musicians to dozens of communities across the Commonwealth of Kentucky over the next two years. The LO will be performing works that appeal to audiences of all ages and tastes in music and reflect the rich musical heritage of our state, featuring homegrown performers and compositions in every venue.

The orchestra will perform in Murray at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 at the Murray State University Lovett Auditorium. We are delighted to have Kentucky-native and mandolinist extraordinaire Chris Thile on this leg of the tour, featuring his new work 'ATTENTION!

Chris Thile, mandolin and vocals

Featuring 'ATTENTION!' A narrative song cycle for extroverted mandolinist and orchestra co- commissioned by Louisville Orchestra Chris Thile, who was called “a genre-defying musical genius” by NPR, offers his own musical take on the American experience. The bluegrass mandolinist behind Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek brings his newly written narrative song cycle that he says tells “the true story of the time I attempted to impress a Starbucks executive and accidentally met Carrie Fisher as a result. It’s a DOOZY!”

Intended to bring economic and artistic prosperity to all parts of the state, “In Harmony” is not just an exciting performance tour. This ground-breaking initiative will allow the LO musicians and staff to meet people where they are and explore the arts through musical and educational collaborations with local musicians, artists, schools, and community organizations.
