Close-Up: Tori Pratt

Meet the new Director of Marketing and Communications at Murray CVB,

Tori Pratt!

She exudes excitement and pure joy! Get to know her better from our most recent interview.

How long have you lived in Murray?

I’ve lived in Murray on-and-off for four years! As a student at Murray State, I spent all four years in the dorms. I’ve recently moved into an apartment here and I am settling in nicely. I also have a kitten named Winnie!

What are you most excited for with this new job opportunity?

The thing I am most excited about is the networking opportunities, as well as the travel aspect. I have always had a love for travel, and my recent study abroad trip to London and Dublin only enhanced my eagerness to travel more. I am really looking forward to going to conferences and meeting people in the tourism industry from all over! I have so much to learn, so I think hearing how more experienced people have been running their office will give me insight on how to be as successful as I can and aid Murray to the best of my ability!

What are 3 things you love most in life?

I love spending time with my loved ones, whether that be with family during the holidays or hanging with my friends on the weekends. The idea of having plans with my friends brings me joy and I love to go out and have fun!

Another thing I love most is relaxing with a good book. When I have free time, I LOVE sitting down and reading a few chapters. There have been days where I do nothing but read and finish a whole book in a day!

Lastly, my favorite time of year is fall. It brings me so much peace when the weather starts to cool down and the leaves change colors. I have playlists on my Spotify that are just songs that remind me of autumn. I love decorating with all the warm colors and lighting cinnamon scented candles.

What is your favorite Murray memory?

Definitely putting together and participating in All Campus Sing at Murray State. Being in Sigma Alpha Iota provided me with lifelong friendships, and putting on such an important campus tradition is something I will never forget. Coaching the groups and going to practices every week certainly keeps us busy, but it is so rewarding to see your groups progress and show confidence in their performance. Not to mention it is also for a wonderful cause. Our philanthropy, People to People provides material assistance to musicians and schools in need all around the world. So, although I only participated in this event for two years, the memories and connections I made are ones that I will treasure for a long time.

Describe Murray in 3 words to someone who has never visited.

If I had to describe Murray in three words, they would be welcoming, charming, and comfortable. Ever since I came to Murray as a freshman in college, I have felt like this place could be a home away from home. Murray has definitely lived up to that expectation. Everywhere you look, there are always people willing to lend a helping hand, and starting my job at the CVB has only heightened that feeling. In my few weeks of working here, I have already met so many kind people and I can't wait to see what else this position has in store for me!

What is your favorite restaurant in Murray?

My favorite restaurant in Murray would have to be the Willow Bistro. I absolutely love their menu and the atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to go with friends and I have had many memorable lunch dates there.

If you had $75 to spend in Murray, how would you spend it?

First of all, I would definitely spend a lot at the Farmer’s Market. Taking a stroll down there on a Saturday morning is such a pleasure and I love seeing all the vendors with their goodies! After that, I would have to get lunch at Dumplin’s, of course! Then, if I had any money left, I would go thrifting at Trends and Treasures. I absolutely love thrift shopping and I think it’s fascinating to look around at all the little trinkets and odds & ends they have.
