It’s Freedom Fest Weekend in the MKY!

Come out and celebrate Independence Day weekend in Murray, Kentucky, Friday through Monday with all the Freedom Fest activities! This weekend is full of fun events that will have everyone feeling the patriotic spirit!

Starting off this great weekend is the Murray Art Guild Summer Art Party on Friday, July 1 from 6-8 p.m. Join the Murray Art Guild this evening to kick-off their membership drive! Bring your family out to enjoy local food, drinks (for purchase), ice cream, live music, outdoor demos and many hands-on projects for kids!


Moving into the celebrations happening on Saturday, July 2, we start the day bright and early at the amazing Downtown Farmers Market from 7 a.m. to Noon in downtown Murray! During the season, 40-50 vendors are there selling anything from home-grown veggies to lamb meat!


Later that evening from 5-9 p.m., join the party at 15th and Olive Live! Local vendors, such as Bill’s Lemonade Stand, Twin Treasures Tavern, Baked with Love as well as, face painting will be set up on the corner of 15th Street & Olive Blvd. Live music will begin at 5 p.m. with a special performance by Murray, Kentucky’s own Olivia Faye starting at 7:40 p.m! The Music line-up also includes Soul Dog, and Steve Green & Friends.

Starting off strong on Monday, July 4 we encourage you to go to the Veteran’s Remembrance Ceremony located at Chestnut Park at 7 a.m. to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in service to our country.


Following the remembrance ceremony, head over to First Methodist Church to support local Boy Scout Troop 45 as they host their annual fundraiser, the Gary Taylor Memorial Breakfast, from 7-9:30 a.m.. Tickets will be $10 at the door for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under; to go options will also be available.

Directly following the Boy Scout breakfast, find your spot along Main Street for the FNB Freedom Fest Parade at 9:30 a.m. The parade route will begin at 10th St. & Memorial Baptist Church, and will end at Cherry St. rolling down Main St. This year’s parade will include a huge line-up of cars, tractors, tow trucks and our special guests from the 202nd Army Band of the Kentucky National Guard!

Before the fireworks, come out to Lovett Lawn on MSU’s campus Monday evening to see the very talented MSU Town & Gown Community Band and Chorus. This free outdoor concert begins at 6:30 p.m. featuring the 202nd Army Band!! Grab your cozy blankets and snacks, and enjoy the patriotic music!

Finally the moment we have all been waiting for, Freedom Fest weekend ends in a bang with The Murray Bank Fireworks Extravaganza! This year’s show is going to be BIG & BOLD! Note: there is a time change from last year. We will be shooting off the fireworks at 9 p.m. so scope out your viewing spot earlier! Bring your sparklers & blankets to enjoy the best ending to a jam-packed Freedom Fest Weekend in the MKY.
The firework show is best viewed along HWY 641 North near Kroger, Walmart or the Chamber of Commerce.
