Dairy Queen- Dairy Queen is a Murray darling, and has been loved by locals and students alike for over 60 years. Murray’s independently owned, walk-up DQ brings all the small town charm. With affordable chili dogs, delicious ice cream made with the original full-fat recipe, and plenty of outdoor seating, Dairy Queen is a student favorite from March to October.
Shaffer Coffee Co. - Every student knows the importance of caffeine and study buddies. Shaffer Coffee Co.'s lattes and coffee are the perfect pick-me-up for a tough assignment, and the spacious cafe makes it the perfect location for a study group or project meeting.
Sweet Dots- For those students needing a walkable study spot, Sweet Dots is located just off campus next to the White and Regents Residence Halls. Featuring bubble tea, coffee and other Korean treats, Sweet Dots is the perfect place for a sweet treat, and their sleek upstairs seating area is a favorite place to socialize or study.
Murray Nutrition- Murray Nutrition is a one stop shop for loaded teas, energy drinks and protein shakes. Murray Nutrition’s flavor variety, student staff, trendy lobby, and selection of cute knick knacks keeps students coming back.
7 Brew- For students in a rush, 7Brew’s speedy sweet drinks are a lifesaver. Whether you’re wanting something caffeinated or non-caffeinated, the drive-thru shop features unique flavor combinations for coffees, energy drinks, or flavored sodas. Their late hours, frequent BOGO specials, and social media giveaways make 7Brew a student staple.
Exploring and Staying Active
Calloway County Public Library- The newly renovated CCPL is becoming a student essential, especially during finals week. With a large selection of trending novels, free Wi-Fi and cozy study areas, the public library is a perfect spot to spend a few hours off campus.
Barre Murray- Barre Murray’s weekend classes are a favorite for students looking to decompress on their days off. Barre’s student class package, available with MSU ID, is perfect for a college budget. Featuring a popular hot yoga on Saturdays, pop-up Pilates and barre workout classes, Barre Murray keeps students adventurously active while being affordable.
Wit’s End Records- Located Downtown, Wit’s End Records is a hub for vinyl collectors and music enthusiasts alike. The wide selection, ranging from new and current releases to gently used vinyl keeps students coming back to see what’s new, and the store’s vintage vibes are simply immaculate. Wit’s End also features a performance area, where students can jam out to local artists on select performance nights.
Downtown Farmer’s Market- The Downtown Farmer’s Market is another Murray tradition bringing together the whole community. From fresh produce and baked goods to specialty crafts and plants, the farmer’s market is the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning off-campus.
Eats
Hop Hound Brewpub- For spontaneous SINGO nights and drink specials, Hop Hound Brewpub is a student staple. Featuring a rotating menu of daily specials, Hop Hound always keeps it fresh, and provides a great atmosphere to have some fun!
Rudy’s on the Square- Rudy’s on the Square is a quintessential small town diner, with affordable breakfast and lunch, what more could a college student ask for. Rudy’s provides a vintage vibe and classic breakfasts perfect for a Sunday morning outing.
“B-shack”- Or Burrito Shack is the go-to warm weather lunch spot. The build-your-own burritos, tacos and nachos bring something for everyone, and the tropical atmosphere keeps students coming back. Located just off campus, the line can be seen from the quad during every All Campus Sing without fail.
