In this biopic, a gay Mexican-American professional wrestler invents a new stage persona: the flamboyantly campy “Cassandro,” who takes the world of Lucha Libre by storm and takes down one masked, macho wrestler after another. Cassandro features a standout performance by Mexican star Gael García Bernal (Y tu mamá también), as well as the film debut of Puerto Rican reguetón artist Bad Bunny. Presented as part of The Spanish Film Club series with the support of Pragda and the Secretary of State for Culture of Spain.
In Spanish and English with subtitles. R, 107 minutes.
Cinema International hosts post-film discussions after every screening. Admission is free. Screenings begin at 7:30 P.M. in Faculty Hall 208.
